The Vatican is known to hate Hellsing for many years not only due to their religious views [of a Protestant and a Roman Catholic but also to their back-stories.] The part of the Vatican that is seen in the anime is the 'Iscariot' a.k.a the VIII division. It is led by Enrico Maxwell who is the Vatican's bishop, later on becoming the Archbishop. Yet another leader of the group is Alexander Anderson - a Paladin. Later on in the story in turns out that the Vatican helped the last Battalion in escaping. Also, the division operates with the KKK as they both with to destroy Britain and so the Vatican waits for the Nazis to almost completely destroy London until they come in. Alexander Anderson decides not to follow Enrico's orders due to him becoming mad with the power given to him as the archbishop of Vatican.
